Speaker: Alma Soongi Beck, Esq. is the founding attorney of The Beck Law Group, P.C., a firm that helps individuals, couples and families navigate issues relating to estates and trusts, probate and trust administration, domestic partnership and property co-ownership, particularly as they affect unmarried and same sex couples. Since 2001, Ms. Beck has facilitated workshops on these issues for the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR), Our Family Coalition (OFC), Horizons Foundation, the Asian Pacific Islander Queer Women and Transgender People’s Coalition (APIQWTC), among others. She is a volunteer attorney for the AIDS Legal Referral Panel’s will drafting section and an active board member of both OFC and the Transgender Law Center (TLC). Ms. Beck earned her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1998, and her B.A. in American and Ethnic Studies from Yale University. She also earned an LL.M. degree in Taxation (graduate law degree) from Golden Gate Law School in August 2004.
